  • Today's topic is "Bioethics". First we'll look at the website of the Deutsches Referenzzentrum für Ethik in den Biowissenschaften (German Reference Center for Ethics in the Life Sciences).

    It will give you an idea about why this topic is important. Please note that - even though it's the website of German Reference Center for Ethics in the Life Sciences - the home page is in English; you have to click "Deutsch" (top right corner) to get the German-language version.
     
  • A bioethics-related website from the University of Bergen in Norway defines Bioethics as: ... the discipline dealing with the ethical implications of both biological research and the applications of that research, especially in medicine.

    Even though this topic is related to many other fields among the Life Sciences in addition to Biotechnology, it is included here because of the important ethical issues involved in almost every sub-field of Biotech.
     
  • Here's the story of one of the biggest cases of unethical scientific behavior in modern times, and it's from Biotech. It's about the disgraced South Korean, Hwang Woo-Suk, who claimed he had created stem cell lines from cloned human embryos.
