-
POLYMERASE CHAIN REACTION (PCR)
Here's a little movie about PCR and gel
electorphoresis.
-
POLYMERASE CHAIN REACTION (PCR) -> KARY
MULLIS As you know, PCR is a basic procedure in
Biotech, but did you know that the person who developed PCR - Dr. Kary
Mullis - won the Nobel Prize in 1993 for his work? Here's some
information about him. Click

- When Kary Mullis developed PCR, he
was working for a company called Cetus Corporation, who paid Dr.
Mullis a bonus of $10,000. Later, Cetus sold the patent for PCR to
the Swiss pharmaceutical company Hoffman-LaRoche for $300,000,000!
Roche has its "PCR Application Manual" online. Here's a link to the
introduction.

- HOW PCR WORKS
a photo that shows you the "easy way" to do PCR.
(With many thanks to Katharina Klünder!)
Here is a link to a nice Flash™ "movie"
from the Dolan DNA Learning Center at the Cold Spring Harbor Lab (USA)
that illustrates how PCR works.
When the page opens, you'll see some buttons. I guess you might start by
clicking "Introduction" ... ?
